Conventional panorama machine has been designed to acquire images along a single focal layer. And this explain why some teeth roots are visual clear with its detailed structures while others are not seen clear due to different inclination of different teeth while capturing in a single focal layer and this also because each patient may have a slightly different arch, conventional panoramic images may occasionally miss important details which land outside of a single focal layer. .and this type which we call 2D radiographic panoramic image.
Now with the new innovative technology of new smart panorama or insight panorama machine which can acquire panorama Images in 41 different focal layers. these layers are in depth or horizontal in the 3rd dimension. and with software and artificial intelligence it can choose the clearest focal image of each tooth according to its inclination and reconstruct the final image of panorama to give a final clear radiographic panoramic Image with most of details are captured and clearly visual in a single image. And also, it gives you a chance to change between different focal layers with scroll mouse using its software. this feature allows doctors to obtain never-before-seen in-depth diagnostic information, from anterior to posterior, on a digital panoramic image.
Doctors now can explore their region of interest while giving them the capability to find mesio-buccal, disto-buccal, and palatal root information by navigation inside the digital panorama using the software. and this we call 2.5 Panorama.
